About Pike Brothers
Pike Brothers – The legacy of 1885 reborn in the Bavarian mountains
Pike Brothers is not just a clothing brand; it's a time capsule. Combining historical accuracy with modern durability, they recreate iconic pieces from a time when clothing was built to withstand anything. With roots stretching from Australia to London, and now based in Germany, Pike Brothers is the go-to choice for those seeking authentic workwear and military-inspired classics.
From Brisbane to London: A Global History
The story began in 1885 in Brisbane, Australia , when brothers Walter and Edwin Pike founded their textile business. Pike Brothers Ltd. quickly became a success, and by the 1920s they had established five exclusive men's stores in Australia's largest cities.
To ensure access to the best fabrics and the finest men's accessories, they opened a branch in London in the late 1920s. Here they also operated a tailoring shop that produced uniforms for the British armed forces. During World War II, they were entrusted with the honorable task of producing uniforms for American officers – a testament to their extreme demands for quality and fit.
After dressing generations of men, the company closed down in the late 1950s. But the story wasn't over.
Rebirth in the Bavarian Mountains
In 2008, the brand was revived near Munich, Germany. The new version of Pike Brothers has retained the original philosophy: to produce authentic menswear inspired by the first half of the 20th century. Each garment is based on original archival patterns and constructed using traditional methods that are almost forgotten in today's fashion industry.
Responsible production in Europe
Pike Brothers prides itself on its focus on quality and ethics. All clothing is produced in Europe , ensuring both short transport distances and full control over the craftsmanship:
-
Portugal (EU): Most of the collection is produced here, subject to strict requirements for both environmental and social sustainability.
-
European Turkey: A smaller portion of production takes place here, with the same high standards for durability and quality.
This means that when you buy a Pike Brothers pair of jeans or a vest, you support a European value chain that prioritizes natural materials and fair working conditions.

This is a unique interpretation of the classic N1 Deck Jacket from Pike Brothers. While the original 1944 model was developed for the US Navy in Jungle Cloth, this edition features Pike Brothers' signature fabric: Elephant Skin. The result is a jacket with a historical silhouette, but with a texture and durability that is top-tier for vintage workwear enthusiasts.
This jacket is made from Pike Brothers' legendary "Elephant Skin" fabric, an extremely heavy cotton textile weighing 520 g/m² (approx. 15.3 oz). Elephant Skin is a heavy cotton satin with a construction similar to that used in traditional German guild clothing (Zunftbekleidung) in the 19th century. The fabric is so tightly woven that it is naturally wind and flame resistant, and it has a surface reminiscent of leather. Over time, the Asphalt color will develop a dramatic and beautiful patina, just like the most exclusive selvedge jeans.
The fit is the authentic, boxy 1944 model, allowing for movement and layering. To ensure you stay warm in the coldest conditions, the jacket is lined with a cozy, woven wool lining. The details are true to history: a robust Talon zipper, a wide placket to stop drafts, and hidden knitted cuffs in the sleeves. This is a high-quality jacket produced in Portugal, built to withstand the toughest elements year after year.
