Secret Agent Beach Blue 14oz - Strong Guy

Secret Agent Denim is a 14 oz Japanese denim with an origin story unlike anything else in our range. During a visit to a weaving mill in Okayama, a roll of denim was discovered that had been exposed to water after a flood. The uneven moisture exposure had caused the indigo to react differently across the surface – some areas had lost color, others had oxidized in unexpected ways. The result was far outside standard production tolerance.

Instead of discarding the batch, the factory collaborated with a local Japanese dye-house to bleach the denim at the fabric stage – after weaving, but before sewing. The process evenly reduced the indigo concentration across the entire surface, transforming the uneven, damaged fabric into a light, blurred, and uniform bleach blue. The fabric is received in this state and cut and sewn without garment washing.

Despite the bleaching, Secret Agent Denim retains its structure and density at 14 oz, while reduced surface dye gives lower stiffness and better drape from day one. Over time, the remaining indigo in the yarn structure will continue to fade with use – with lower contrast than untreated raw denim, but with a distinctive, soft bleach quality that is entirely its own.
