Elephant 14 – also known as Dirty Elephant – is a 20 oz Japanese selvedge denim woven on traditional shuttle looms. Think of it as a heavyweight version of the classic Dirty Fade: same rope dye technique with a naturally brown cotton core under the indigo layer, but woven to twice the weight, making the fabric stronger, stiffer, and more textured from day one.
It is precisely the weight that makes the fading on Elephant 14 so dramatic. The indigo layer is thicker and takes longer to break down, but once it fades, the wear points reveal a deeper, warmer earthy tone than on lighter denim. The contrast between dark and light becomes sharper and more pronounced – that's the signature of the Elephant series.
