The Forever Black Selvedge from Naked & Famous Denim is a 12.5oz black denim that fades minimally. It retains its color longer than other black jeans without the purple, green, or brown undertones often found in many black jeans.
The reason the color holds up so well is that the fabric is sulfur-dyed. This technique makes the color blacker and ensures it stays black longer. Furthermore, the threads in the fabric are dyed all the way through, so there's no white core that eventually shows through with fading.
If you're not interested in indigo rope dyeing but still want the feel that a thicker raw denim fabric provides, this is a great choice. With these jeans, Naked & Famous has attempted to create a pair of jeans that retains its color as well as old-fashioned "beaver nylon" jeans with 100% cotton fabric. It's a bit better than what you usually have to buy to get jeans that stay black over time: a polyester blend. It also has a red selvedge ID.
