Solid Black Selvedge is a 13 oz Japanese selvedge denim woven on traditional shuttle looms in right-hand twill. What makes this fabric distinctive is the dyeing technique: both warp and weft are sulfur-dyed black, resulting in a consistently pitch black denim without the bluish tint found in indigo-based black jeans.
Sulfur dyeing penetrates deeper into the yarn fibers than indigo, resulting in an intense, matte black color that stays darker over time. While indigo-based black denim typically fades to grey-blue at wear points, Solid Black fades to a warmer, charcoal grey tone, providing subtle contrasts without losing its black character. Classic red selvedge ID, black stitching, black leather patch, and black metal buttons and rivets keep the overall look consistent and monochromatic.
